After the Fire – Review

You need to read this. Like right now, well you can read this review first, but then go and find a copy of After the Fire to read straightaway.

I love everything about this book. I love the before and after narrative of this book and I love that it feels like we’re hearing Moonbeams story in real time much like Dr Hernandez. Moonbeam herself is my new favourite character (sorry to all the old ones) and Honey is just amazing too and I want to be her friend. I love finding out about all the relationships and twists and turns of Moonbeam’s time in the cult.

As we as readers find out more and more, you can almost physically feel the weight lift off of Moonbeam and wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow! I could write 100 wow’s for this review and it would still not feel like enough.

It was horrifying to know that this was based off of a true story and sad that this is some people’s reality. It was heart-wrenching to discover what Moonbeam and the others had been through. I admire them and the survivors of real cults as well

It was such an intense read; after reading this, I was numb will all the feelings that this book gave me and my bin was over-flowing with tissues. I couldn’t put this book down because it was just so amazing.

An astounding , horrifyingly real, heart-wrenching read. 6/5
